sweet and spicy korean rice sticks!yumyum!

after a long hiatus, it's time to reintroduce some food that has been cooked in the house of the happy bears. do not be deceived by the lack of postings that we have not been cooking or eating in this house because in the silence of our food blog, we have been feasting on yummy fares like laksa, chicken rice, sticky date pudding, cheesecake etc etc...it's just that the photos have been lacking and thus, there is not much to blog about since what's a food blog if there's no food pictures, right???

anyways, the above is one of my favourites from the wide range of korean food we have here, it's called doekbokki-stir-fried rice sticks.

the ingredients for this dish is pretty simple. i kind of concocted my own mixture of ingredients and call it "chap-ba-lan" doekbokki. here's the list:

THE ACCESSORIES:

shredded zucchinni/cabbage, shredded carrots, shredded chicken/ pork (marinated with light soy sauce, sesame oil, pinch of pepper and sugar), shredded capsicum

THE DRESSING:

light soy sauce, ketchup, gochujang (korean red hot pepper paste), onion juice, garlic(finely minced), sesame oil, sugar, corn syrup, rice wine/ mirin, black pepper and for an extra kick of spice, add red pepper powder

THE STAR:

rice cakes (boiled to soften then pan-fried till crisp)
now what you do is stir fry the accessory ingredients till soft, add prepared rice sticks and stir fry with the dressing
and there you have it...yumyum house's korean stir fried rice sticks!mmmmmmm......
